Jury Duty Experience

Well, my first day of Jury duty was long, and so was the second and third. All in all it turned out to be a very influential experience. I took part in a trial as a juror of 12, and it was a civil case. It was absolutely long, and they went from 9!5 am to 4:30 every day. So unlike everyone else who has those easy jury duty assignments, I had the long one. Not that it matters, because my job takes my check and pays me for the whole days my normal pay, I couldn't even pick my check up because the last day went so long. Best part though was that I met some very nice people, who I might add were very experienced and diverse in life, and I made a few network contacts which i feel as though will be valuable in the future. The second to best was the fact that the last day of duty the city paid for us to have lunch from Chick Fillet. Ummm.

Week of Firsts

So this week has a few firsts for me...My first debt snowball is about to occur. With the economy and the only other person besides my father handling finances, I irresponsibly used my credit cards to rise above the 30% utilization mark. So now I have to re balance myself, on a very strict budget. Meaning that every paycheck until Christmas will dwindle down to about $13.00

The next first will be tomorrow...jury duty. I never served jury duty before, but since my job gives me a full paid day and doesn't hurt my PPL, I say I may as well go and do my service as a citizen. I hope that I don't get picked or that I do and don't have stay long and can have the rest of the day off.

Also, this will be a preparation week for my son's return to his first day of new school, again!

Also, my first two strand twist experience was a success. My mom actually saw me doing it in the bathroom, and she offered to finish it for me. Since my arms felt like they were going to fall off, I accepted. She did them kinda small, but they turned out okay. I went to work this morning and the scarf had made them lay to my head. So it looks like a nice little compact style since I did just have my BC last month. All in all a week of firsts isn't so bad.

Debt Reduction

OKay, so I have made a plan to get my current debt down. I hopefully things work out the way I need them to in a timely fashion. After hearing about the new tax incentive on buying a house before next June, I hope to be apart of it.

There are two things that are concerning me right now financial wise. The first thing is the car insurance. I have been paying for my car and my parents. But right now I don't see how I'm going to afford that at all, and pat of the credit cards. The second concern is my sons Karate classes. I don't know how I'm going to fit that in either. Plus I'm not sure if Ill be able to get him to class on time, and still go to school myself.

I really need to find another source of income for a while. I just need to run onto like 5 k to get me in a stable state.

Argggghhhh.

First Twist Set

Well I got my camera cord in the mail. So I thought I would publish my first set of twists. I used Elasta QP Mango butter and Organic Root Stimulator Lock and Twist Gel. And to keep the hair moist, because I cant comb it while its dry, Infusium 23 Mositur(ology) in a spray bottle.

Braid Out after BC!

So last night I had to wash my hair. So what I did was I washed it with the creme of nature shampoo. Then I went and put mounds of the suave coconut conditioner in my hair (it only cost $1 anyway). I let it sit on there for approx 5-10 minutes. Then I rinsed it out. I then proceeded to put in the Infusium 23 Mositur(ology) leave in conditioner. The infusium sort of reminded me of the wave neuvo days with the activator. LOL.

I think braided my head in about 8 cornrows straight back and put my scarf on. I woke up this morning and took them out carefully and put a head band on. I must say this is the first braid out I have done which actually looked right! I will post picture later.

Red Racoon!

Yesterday I had the fright of my life. The night before I had put on the acne.org treatment and then had put the rx for Brown skin naturally flawless fading cream stuff on the three dark marks I have, and BAM!!! I woke up like I had three years of sunburn on my face, like a raccoon!!!
I still went to work. itching and burning, everyone looking at me with big eyes. Even my mortal enemy asked me if I was contagious! Well I went to occupational health, and she gave me the its not Lupus spiel, then gave me 50 mg of Benedryl. by the end of the day they redness and itchiness went away.
Today I am my normal high yellow self, and I threw all that face junk out!!!

Thanks but No Thanks!

One thing I must say about the natural hair forums is that they are certainly right about alot of things. During my transition, I have seen many posts about peoples commentary on other's decision to go natural. I have personally felt this. First my mom let her hair go natural a few years back, then decided to perm it. Bad move. She's always been preaching to me about how I should stop getting perms, yet she was the professional hair stylist who had me in the perm, and before the perm she had me in Wave Neauvo from the age of 5. So now, she keeps telling me how the big CHOP would be a bad idea. And that I should perm my hair cause I cant handle taking care of it.

I'm like, "I ain't had a perm since October 2007 and I'm not bald, and no where near it, thanks but no thanks, I'll stay natural" And this week I was able to get my BC! Or rather I was able to get the last 2 inches of perm taken off. I don't even think she noticed it. But funny thing is she was mad because I turned down her offer to cut my hair for me. Lady, you are 50 years old, cant see a lick and never listen to what I have to say. It's MY HAIR, so its my way or the highway! I rather pay a younger professional who is my normal stylist to do it, especially when she has had many years with natural hair! I can get a refund, show dissaprovement, and know that what I ask for is what I get when I jump out the chair. I always hated going places that were reluctant to do what I ask, and always asked me 5 million times are you sure? Then when I finally get them to do the drastic move, they are like WOW! That was a great idea!
And what do I look like getting my hair cut by my mom after this girl has put all this work into my hair, then trying to get her to fix it once mom messes it up?!
People at my job love my new hair. Alot of the men don't know what to say, but the women have all told me how marvelous my hair is.
Hopefully by this time next year it will be grown out wild and wavy!!!!

The Big CHOP!!!

Well I went for my BC yesterday. And I must say I rode the transition period for almost a year, and it was definatley the right choice. When she cut it, it still had alot of length to it! It looks like I never even got it cut!

Now if feels much more healthier. I can actually run my fingers through without any tangles. She took off about 2 inches all around I would say. She cut it wet, then blew it dry and did the final shaping.

Right now I am using the EQP mango butter, which makes my hair feel marvelous! When I co-wash I have been using the suave coconut conditioner, but I did pick up the infusium 23 moistur(ology) leave in conditioner. Later next week I will try it out after my co-wash.

From the looks of things, I may actually be a 3c or 4a type hair.

Maybe my brother will find my camera cord today so I can put some picture updates up!
